Abstract

The objective was to validate the SF-36 quality of life scales and Dienner's satisfaction with life in a sample made up of 746 pregnant adolescents. The existing correlations of life satisfaction and quality of life scales were between 0.13 and 0.36. The psychometric criteria determined that the reliability of the scales, through Cronbach's alpha, was acceptable, indicating an internal consistency between moderate and high. The principal component analysis showed a single factor that explained 63.0 % of the variance. Life satisfaction of pregnant adolescents was close to full satisfaction, not determined by the variables studied; however, it is influenced by gestational age, occupation, educational level and marital status. It is concluded that pregnancy is not a factor that affected the quality of life in its entirety of adolescents and there was a relationship between quality of life related to health and satisfaction with life.
