THE RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE OF INDIVIDUALS WITH SEXUALLY DIVERSE IDENTITIES: AN ANALYSIS OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN CHRISTIAN CULTURE

Abstract

The article focuses on exploring the dynamics of faith among LGBTQ+ individuals within Christian contexts, addressing the presence of gender-based violence within these communities. A robust sociological approach is employed, integrating both qualitative and quantitative methods to thoroughly analyze the religious experiences of this group within specific Christian environments. This research allows for the identification of instances of exclusion and gender-based violence. The findings underscore the urgent need to establish inclusive spaces for dialogue and adapt interpretations of faith that safeguard the rights of individuals with diverse sexual identities. Furthermore, recommendations are proposed to develop more inclusive and violence-free religious environments. These recommendations emphasize the vital importance of educational programs for awareness-raising and the promotion of intercultural dialogue as fundamental pillars to achieve the goal of inclusion and respect within religious communities.
